Rickshaw puller dead, another injured after being hit by luxury car

In a fatal accident in the national Capital, a 45 year old rickshaw puller died while another suffered injuries as a luxurious car on Sunday rammed into them at the Main Gate of Ramjas College in the North Campus.

A senior police official said that the driver of the white Audi Q3 car lost control of the vehicle and banged the car into two people which were identified as rickshaw pullers. According to the police officials, the accused has been identified as 56 year old Virendra Mehta, a lawyer and a resident of Mukherjee Nagar, and has been arrested.

A PCR call was received at the Maurice Nagar Police Station at 1:16 PM. One of the injured has expired during treatment at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. “Alcohol was not detected by the hospital in the breath of the accused, however, a blood sample has been taken for the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examination,” said DCP North MK Meena.While the victim who died by being hit by the Audi car was identified as Govind and Ashok. Both are rickshaw pullers. While both the victims were admitted to the Hindu Rao Hospital for the medical examination by the Investigation Officer as soon as he reached the spot, Govind was referred to LNJP hospital.

 DCP North Delhi said, “Both the injured after the accident were sent to Hindu Rao Hospital for Medical Examination and the injured Govind was later referred to the LNJP Hospital.” He further added that the accused Virendra, has been sent for medical examination and legal action is being taken.
