The first meeting of the Rath Yatra Coordination Committee was held in Puri on Saturday for smooth conduct of the Car Festival on July 7.
The meeting was presided over by Central RDC Ranjan Kumar Das, who directed district Collector Siddharth Shankar to hold a meeting and complete the tasks assigned to various line departments on a priority basis.
According to Policy Administrator Jitendra Kumar Sahu, a total of 865 pieces of wood are required for the three chariots and 164 pieces of wood have been obtained so far. He informed that the Forest Department is supplying the logs in stages.
Among others, Central Range IGP Sanjay Kaushal, Puri SP Pinak Mishra and senior officials of different departments were present.
This year's Rath Yatra will be held on July 7 and the Bahuda Yatra on July 15. Devasnan Purnima will be held on May 10.
