Family members and locals created ruckus outside Aishbagh police station after a 55-year-old PWD employee died in police custody.

The police had called him to Aishbagh police station on the complaint of his daughter-in-law. He reached the police station with his wife and son on Wednesday evening where his health deteriorated. Family alleged that he was terrified due to the misbehavior of the sub-inspector.

Wife of the deceased Rubina told that her husband was getting disturbed and was not feeling well, she also told this to the Sub Inspector. The Sub Inspector did not allow him to go to the hospital. Her husband's hands and legs started getting stiff. On this, the SI said that he is trying to fool, I will lock him in the lockup and beat him with sticks. After this, he fell unconscious. He was rushed to Hamidia Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

DCP Zone-1 Priyanka Shukla has said that a judicial investigation will be conducted in the incident. She said that Mohammad Akram (55), resident of Bagh Farhat Afza, was a class four employee in PWD. He used to work in the office located at Bharat Talkies. On Wednesday evening at 7 his 19-year-old daughter-in-law reached Aishbagh police station to register a case of dowry harassment.

On receiving the news of the death of Mohammad Akram in police custody, relatives and acquaintances gathered outside his house. During this, there was talk of gherao the police station. However, after the persuasion of the officers, no kind of demonstration was done outside the police station. As a precaution, a police force of three police stations has been deployed outside the police station.

According to the police, an argument took place between the family of the deceased Akram and the family of the daughter-in-law in the police station itself.

Meanwhile, his health started deteriorating. The family immediately took him to Hamidia Hospital. The police have denied the incident of assault in the police station. On checking the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the police station, it was also found that Akram and his family were not beaten or misbehaved with.

The deceased's wife Rubina said that the daughter-in-law starts staying at her maternal home frequently. She does not return even after persuasion. Presently she is staying at her maternal home on her own will. We do not know when she complained to the police station. He asked the entire family to go to the police station immediately. We said that we would come to the police station in some time. He threatened that if we do not come to the police station soon, he will take us away beating us. When we reached the police station in a short while, he started misbehaving with us. The SI said that if the woman's side is strong, one-sided action will be taken.

He started pressuring her saying that you are harassing your daughter-in-law, you will all go to jail. Meanwhile, the husband's health deteriorated. He told that he is feeling nervous, allow him to sit outside in the open. On this, the SI scolded him. Meanwhile, the husband's hands and legs started getting stiff.
