In a move towards providing seamless and transparent citizen services, Punjab Government will establish an ultra-modern sub-registrar office in Mohali tehsil. The initiative aims to streamline property registrations, ensuring a hassle-free and efficient process for residents, with the promise of completing transactions under one roof within an impressive 90 minutes.
Chief Secretary Anurag Verma, during a surprise visit to various public dealing offices at District administrative Complex (DAC) Mohali, emphasized the Government's commitment to deliver easy and transparent civic services without inconveniencing the citizens.
Providing insights into the upcoming state-of-the-art sub-registrar office in Mohali, the Chief Secretary said: “The unique facility promises a comprehensive range of services, consolidating the entire property registration process in one location. From the preparation of registry deeds to the purchase of stamp papers through the authorized center of the Punjab Land Record Society, the process includes eKYC for identification, purchase, and sale of property, capturing high-quality photographs with a witness of the deed, and completing the registration — all within an impressive 90-minute timeframe.”
Verma highlighted that the new office will feature different counters for writing deeds, catering to diverse needs. For those preferring to write their wills themselves or from the comfort of their homes, an online counter will be available, he said, adding that the facility aims to enhance convenience and efficiency in property transactions.
The upcoming sub-registrar office will incorporate innovative features to facilitate a smooth experience for registrants. Considering the two per cent discount in stamp duty for women, there will be special seating arrangements for women in the office. Additionally, the office will provide a dedicated waiting area and essential amenities for visitors.
To further streamline the registration process, individuals securing a time slot for the registry can present their appointment received on their mobile phones upon arrival at the office.
