Students protesting against the CGL examination, conducted by Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), faced the administration’s batons here on Monday. During this, the police used force on the agitating students and drove them away.

JLKM leader Devendranath Mahato has been detained by the police for protesting against the CGL examination conducted by Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Police took him into custody from Sadabahar Chowk.

Document verification has started at the commission office in Namkum for Jharkhand CGL. But meanwhile some candidates started agitation, after which the police lathicharged and drove away the students. During this, the agitating students were seen hiding in the surrounding colonies.

JSSC had organized the Joint Graduate Level Examination on September 21 and September 22 of 2024. After the examination, the students were demanding cancellation of the examination alleging paper leak.

Meanwhile, the commission released the list of successful students, after which the students became furious and started protesting in many cities. The commission had fixed the date of document verification from December 16 to 20. After which the students had announced to go to the commission office and protest.

On Monday, document verification of 450 candidates will be done. For which the commission and the administration have made full preparations. Barricading and tight security arrangements have been made on all the routes leading to the JSSC office. The office premises have also been converted into a cantonment. Vajra vehicles, water cannons and 2500 soldiers have been deployed on the spot.

At the same time, the protesting students clearly say that the police are not happy with even peaceful protests. They said that in a democracy everyone has the right to speak and express their views, but the government is adopting a brutal attitude with all of us. Also, warning the government and the administration, they said that if the police do not release our leader Devendra Mahato soon, then the whole of Jharkhand will burn, there will be a strong movement and the government will be responsible for this.
