The police registered a First Investigation Report (FIR) against five accused on charges of the murder of Dera Kar Sewa Pramukh of Udham Singh Nagar’s Nanakmatta Gurudwara, Tarsem Singh. The accused include Sarvjeet Singh from Punjab and Amarjeet Singh from Uttar Pradesh who allegedly shot the Dera chief. Besides this, the police have also registered an FIR against three men who are suspects in the case. They are residents of Udham Singh Nagar’s Gadarpur Pritam Singh Sindhu and Harvansh Singh Chugh along with a UP resident Anoop Singh. The officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar said this during his visit to Nanakmatta on Friday. He inspected the incident site with police officials investigating the case. He also interacted with the people of Gurudwara who were present during Singh’s murder and expressed his condolences. Kumar said that 11 teams including the district police, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Special Task Force (STF) are investigating the case. The police are also in touch with the authorities concerned of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and central agencies regarding the matter. Several police teams have also been sent to nearby States to gather more information about the assailants. On Friday, the police also detained some people who were allegedly in touch with the assailants. “The investigation authorities have been directed to investigate the case from all angles. Apart from focussing on both shooters' arrests, we are also looking at the possibility of the involvement of other people like locals in the murder,” he said. Singh was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants around 6:15 AM on Thursday. He was shot twice with a rifle by the pillion rider when he was using his phone while sitting on a chair. The whole murder was caught in CCTV cameras installed in the Gurudwara premises. The accused shot him twice within three seconds and fled the scene. Singh was taken to the hospital in Khatima where he died during treatment. Both assailants were reportedly living in the Gurudwara for over a week. The additional director general of police (Law and Order) AP Anshuman said that the police have identified both the accused and are acting accordingly on the information. The police and other teams involved in the investigation have gathered crucial information about them. Since this is an ongoing investigation and multiple agencies are involved in the investigation process, it is too early to disclose anything else. The authorities concerned are working day and night to nab the accused, he added.
