Chhattisgarh Police on Wednesday said nine Maoists, with a cumulative bounty of Rs 59 lakhs, were killed on Tuesday in gunfight with security forces in Dantewada district of Bastar division.
Randhir, Hidme Madkam, Kamlesh and six women (Kumari Shanti, Sushila Madkam, Gangi Muchaki, Kosa Madvi, Lalita and Kavita) were gunned down, Inspector general of Police Bastar (Range) Sundarraj P said.
Of them, Randhir from the DKSZC, the strongest Maoist formation, carried a reward of Rs 25 lakh. He is the second DKSZC member killed this year.
In April, DKSZC member Joganna was killed by security forces in Narayanpur district.
DKSZC handles Maoist activities in Bastar region in Chhattisgarh besides parts of adjoining Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Maharashtra.
The six others carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh each on their heads.
Hidme Madkam and Kamlesh carried a bounty of Rs 2 lakh each.
So far, 153 Maoists have been killed in gunfights in Bastar division,
During the same period, 669 Naxalites have been arrested and 656 have surrendered.
