The Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) aims to benefit more than two lakh women in Chhattisgarh for 2023–24, an official statement said on Tuesday.
As part of Mission Shakti, the target includes 1.46 lakh beneficiaries for the first child and 75,000 beneficiaries for the second girl child.
Eligible women will receive Rs 5,000 upon the birth of their first child and Rs 6,000 if the second child is also a girl.
The PMMVY intends to enhance the nutritional well-being of new mothers and pregnant women. It also aims to ensure compensation for the loss of wages due to pregnancy, the statement said.
