Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Jharkhand again on November 10. Here he will address a public meeting at Chandipur Football Ground in Chandankiyari Assembly constituency of Bokaro. This will be the first time when a Prime Minister of the country is coming to Chandankiyari. Leader of Opposition and BJP candidate Amar Bauri is contesting from this seat. The seat has remained a hot seat due to tussle between two NDA partners BJP and AJSU. Both BJP and AJSU have represented the seat.
After the announcement of BJP candidates, Chandankiyari seat went into BJP kitty. Former Chandankiyari MLA Umakant Rajak, who has been a minister in the Jharkhand government, has left the AJSU party and joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. With this, the political equation of Chandankiyari has also started changing.
Umakant Rajak was also the central general secretary of the AJSU party. In the 2010 elections, he contested from Chandankiyari for the first time on an AJSU ticket and became an MLA. At that time, the government was formed in the state under the leadership of BJP and AJSU and Umakant got the opportunity to become a minister. But he had to face defeat in the 2014 and 2019 elections. At present, Amar Kumar Bauri is the MLA here, who is the leader of the opposition of the BJP and has also been a minister in the state government.
In the 2014 elections, the elections were held under the BJP AJSU alliance, but then there was a friendly contest between Umakant and Amar Kumar Bauri. In the 2019 elections, BJP and AJSU contested separately. Amar Bauri became MLA again in that. This time too, there was a problem in the BJP-AJSU alliance regarding Chandankiyari and various speculations were being made. In which both Umakant and Amar Bauri will contest from Chandankiyari, but there was a state of doubt about how the mathematics will work out in the alliance.
It was being speculated that like 2014, this time too there could be a friendly contest between the BJP and AJSU candidates in Chandankiyari. But the BJP leadership clearly refused friendly contest anywhere in the state. After that, Umakant had no other option but to leave AJSU to contest the elections. It was already being speculated that if such a situation arises, Umakant can join Jharkhand Mukti Morcha or Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha under the leadership of Jairam Mahto and can contest the election on its ticket. Finally, Umakant has joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and it is being considered certain that he will contest the election from Chandankiyari on JMM ticket.
In four assembly constituencies of Bokaro district, AJSU workers will work to give an edge to the alliance candidate. Party's district president Sachin Mahto said this while talking to journalists.
