Pearl production to start in reservoirs of Jharkhand

Under the leadership and guidance of Minister, Deepika Pandey Singh and Secretary, Bakar Siddiqui P Secretary, a new dimension has been added to the achievements of the Fisheries Department of Jharkhand. Now pearls will also be produced along with fish production in the reservoirs of Jharkhand.

Under the cluster approach, this scheme will start from Hazaribagh.

In this regard, Director of Fisheries Directorate, Jharkhand, Dr. HN Dwivedi said that Hazaribagh district has been declared the leading district in the country for pearl production cluster under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. "Along with this, other neighboring districts including Ranchi district will also be developed for pearl cluster. Work will be done under the cluster scheme to make pearl farming / industry a sustainable ecosystem. This will be helpful in empowering local enterprises from micro to large scale," he added.

Dwivedi told that Jharkhand has set a benchmark for the development of fisheries. "This joint effort of the state and central government will undoubtedly pave the way for economic development. This will strengthen the blue economy," he added.

It is worth noting that in a program organized in New Delhi recently on the fourth anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand was declared the leading district under the cluster approach for pearl production.

On this occasion, Union Minister of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Rajiv Ranjan alias Lallan Singh gave a gift to Jharkhand for pearl production along with fish production with the aim of improving the condition and direction of the fishermen of Jharkhand. Along with this, the officials of the Fisheries Department of Jharkhand and the ten-member team of fishermen were encouraged and the achievements of the department in the field of fisheries were appreciated.

Director of Jharkhand Fisheries Directorate Dr. HN Dwivedi and other officials were also present in the said ceremony.
