Ahead of the civic body polls in Punjab, the State Election Commission on Friday said that it has allowed videography proceedings outside the polling stations to be conducted by private persons including the workers of various political parties.
The SEC, however, made it clear that no private individual may be allowed to carry out any videography activity within the polling stations. These directions have already been issued by the Commission in accordance with an order dated 24.5.2012 passed by the High Court, the operative part of which says so.
As per the order, videography by private persons or workers of political parties is allowed at their own expense, subject to such videography being conducted beyond 100 meters of polling stations.
The Commission has also declared December 21 as a public holiday in the revenue jurisdiction of the Municipal Bodies where elections are going to be held.
