Participants to showcase skills at India Open Yoga Championship

The 17th India Open Yoga Championship 2024, organized by The Bengal Club and Karmakar Institute of Yoga, , is set to take place on 31 August and 1 September at the Bengal Club Auditorium. This two-day event will see the participation of around 200 to 300 yoga enthusiasts from across the country, who will showcase their skills and compete for top honors.

Established in 1984, the Karmakar Institute of Yoga has been a cornerstone in promoting yoga culture globally. The institute, dedicated to spreading the benefits of yoga, has established branches in international locations such as Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Taiwan. With over 50 of its alumni now serving as renowned yoga instructors worldwide, the institute continues to contribute significantly to the global yoga community.

The Bengal Club, celebrating its centenary, has a long-standing tradition of organizing events that foster social and cultural enrichment, as well as promote health and wellness within the community. The club's collaboration with the Karmakar Institute of Yoga for the 17th India Open Yoga Championship reflects its commitment to these values.

The primary objective of this championship is to promote the practice of yoga among the general public, emphasizing its benefits for both physical health and mental well-being.

The event will kick off on 31 August at 12:30 pm with an inauguration ceremony, and conclude with a prize distribution ceremony on 1 September at 6:00 pm.

Speaking at a recent press conference,  Baishali Karmakar, President of the Karmakar Institute of Yoga, and  Soumya Sen, Secretary of The Bengal Club, highlighted the significance of the event in fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of yoga. Other notable attendees included  Debashish Naha, Vice President of The Bengal Club,  Fazal Khan, Vice President of the Karmakar Institute of Yoga,  Ranjit Bhattacharya, Senior Member of The Bengal Club, and  Haradhan Pramanik, Member of the Karmakar Institute of Yoga.
