As per direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian visited Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Koraput district to review the progress of various developmental works and interact with the general public.
In Malkangiri district, Pandian reviewed the progress of Govindapalli Integrated Irrigation Project on the Saptadhara and Garia rivers which will provide irrigation facilities to 92,815 acres of land in Malkangiri, Mathili, Khairput and Korkunda blocks. During his last visit to Malkangiri on March 28 last, people had requested for the project. Based on this, a DPR of Rs 4,000 crore has been prepared.
In Nabarangpur district, he reviewed the progress of Parbati Giri Mega Lift Project at a cost of Rs 1,272 crore and Turi-Gunthat Irrigation Project at a cost of Rs 577 crore.
He also reviewed the progress of tourism infrastructure at various locations in Nabarangpur district including Bhaskel Dam, Umerkote, Chandandhara Waterfall, Bhairaghumar Waterfall, Mangaradora Waterfall, Podagada Hill, Mandadongri, Maa Bidri Temple, Jharigam, Maa Bhandargharani Temple and Mousima Temple in Nabarangpur and Maa Pendrani Temple in Umerkote being executed at a total cost of Rs 25.50 crore. All these projects have been taken up based on grievances received by Pandian during the visit to Nabarangpur in March 2023.
In Koraput district, Pandian reviewed the progress of Gupteswar Temple, Boipariguda at a cost of Rs 20.20 crore and Jhanjabati river barrage project at a cost of Rs. 100 crore with irrigation potential to an ayacut area of 4,720 acres.
