On the orders of High Court, UMC sub-engineer suspended

Thursday, 23 May 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

The sub engineer and former building officer of Ujjain Municipal Corporation has been suspended after a bailable warrant was issued against the Municipal Corporation Commissioner for not removing the encroachment even after the order of the High Court.

In another case, an order has been issued to remove the cashier of Berasia Municipality, who came under the investigation of Lokayukta. Cashier has been posted to Municipal Corporation Gwalior.

Urban Development and Housing Department Commissioner Bharat Yadav has suspended former building officer and sub-engineer Harsh Jain posted in Ujjain Municipal Corporation.

During the suspension period, Jain's headquarters will be the office of the Divisional Joint Director, Urban Development, Indore, and he will get a living allowance from Ujjain Municipal Corporation. According to the order issued by Yadav, Jain was made the building officer in-charge in the order issued on January 11, 2023.

After this, on August 23, 2023, Neha Khattar had complained about encroachment on which action was directed. Due to non-action on this, a case was filed in the High Court, after which the court ordered action.

Jain was then given orders to take action on this. Instead of taking action on the order given in the case number WP 26258/2023 filed in the High Court, Building Officer in-charge Jain had only given notice.

Due to this, a bailable warrant was issued by the High Court against the former Municipal Commissioner Ujjain. In this way, taking serious note of the negligence of the former building officer and sub-engineer in the matter of removing encroachment, orders for their suspension have been issued.

On the other hand, another case is related to the cashier who came in the proceedings of Lokayukta police in Berasia municipality. It was told that Sachin Kathane is posted as Cashier and Assistant Accountant in Municipality Berasia. Crime number 45/24 has been registered against them in Lokayukta Police Organization, Bhopal under Section 7 Prevention of Corruption Act. Lokayukta Police had written a letter to the Urban Development and Housing Department to transfer this employee from Barisya Municipality to somewhere else.

After this, action has been taken in the case of traps and raids on the basis of the rules of the General Administration Department. In such cases, within three days of receiving information through any medium regarding the accused officer-employee or the case coming to cognizance, such officer-employee is removed from the post in which he was held, or has come under the radar of raids. There is a provision to remove it from somewhere else. Therefore, Sachin Kathane Cashier and Assistant Accountant have been transferred to Municipal Corporation Gwalior.
