NTPC Kerandari Coal Mining Project under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing awarded the Utkarsh Meritorious Award and KDCMP Scholarships to exemplary academic achievers from project-affected schools and villages of KDCMP. These scholarships were handed over by Durgesh Prasad, President, Sanskriti Mahila Samiti and are designed to nurture educational excellence and empower students from underserved communities to pursue higher education.

As part of the "Utkarsh Scholarship Scheme," Ayush Raj from Village Harla, Post-Hewai—a project-affected area—was honored with an annual grant of Rs 90,000 for four years. This award recognizes his exceptional academic achievements and supports his admission to the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala. This financial aid is not just a support for his education but a pivotal step towards realizing his dreams and future success. In total, 4 students were awarded under the Utkarsh Scholarship Scheme this year.

In addition to Ayush Raj, three outstanding students from UHS, Basariya were celebrated for their remarkable performance in the 2023 Matriculation Examination. These students, representing various categories including General, ST/SC, and Girl Child, each received a cash prize of Rs 3,000, underscoring their academic excellence and potential.

NTPC KDCMP remains committed to fostering educational growth through its scholarships for Class 10 students at UHS, Basariya. This year, 32 meritorious students were awarded scholarships for their exceptional performance. Students achieving a score of 80% or higher were rewarded, with the top three receiving Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000, and Rs 3,000 respectively, and other high-achieving students receiving Rs 2,000 each. The total financial commitment for these scholarships amounts to Rs 1,69,000, reflecting NTPC’s dedication to inspiring and supporting students from rural, low-income families.

Shiv Prasad, HoP, KDCMP said that these scholarships are more than just financial support—they represent NTPC KDCMP’s ongoing effort to transform lives and open doors to a brighter future. The event was also attended by AGMs, Rohit Pal and Subash Prasad Gupta.

The recipients of this year’s scholarships are now pursuing higher education in institutions across Hazaribagh and Ranchi, with many aspiring to become engineers, doctors, and other professionals. NTPC KDCMP’s contributions are making a profound impact, empowering these young minds to achieve their dreams and create a positive change in their communities.
