NIT Jamshedpur: Third International Conference on Security and Privacy

The Department of Mathematics at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur successfully hosted the Third International Conference on Security and Privacy. Organized in a hybrid format, the event showcased pioneering research and advancements in data security, cybersecurity, and privacy, attracting experts, academicians, and industry professionals from across the globe.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, who underscored the significance of security and privacy in the evolving digital landscape. He called upon participants to foster innovation and contribute to developing advanced technologies in the field. The Chief Guest, Dr. Debasish Roy, IPS, DG & IGP, Railways, West Bengal Police, emphasized the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing security challenges.

Under the stewardship of Convener and Organizing Secretary Dr. Sumit Kumar Debnath and Chairman Dr. Sourav Das, the conference featured a diverse lineup of distinguished speakers. Keynote addresses included:  Prof. Jintai Ding, Tsinghua University, China, on “Post-Quantum Cryptography.” Dr. Anupam Chattopadhyay, NTU Singapore, on “Security and Privacy of Machine Learning.” Prof. Subhamoy Maitra, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, on “A Cryptographic View of the Quantum Paradigm.”  Dr. Saibal Kumar Pal, DRDO, on “Long-Term Cryptographic Security.”

Dr. Debasish Roy, IPS, on “Quantum Computing on Boolean Functions.”  Prof. Sourav Mukhopadhyay, IIT Kharagpur, on “The Power of Public Key Encryption and Fully Homomorphic Encryption.” Dr. Ratna Dutta, IIT Kharagpur, on “Post-Quantum Secure MFHE and IPFE for Untrusted Cloud Environments.”

Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions and presented research papers on topics such as encryption, blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum cryptography. These deliberations reflected the interdisciplinary nature of modern security challenges and solutions.

The event was supported by sponsors including IIT Bombay, SERB, Springer, and DRDO. It was attended by several eminent professors, including Dr. Raj Nandkeolyar, Head of the Mathematics Department, and other faculty members, whose contributions ensured the conference's success.

This conference reinforced NIT Jamshedpur’s commitment to advancing research and fostering collaboration in addressing global challenges in cybersecurity and privacy.
