In a move to win the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls at any cost, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has not now turned influencer, inducting educationist and motivational speaker Avadh Ojha popularly known as Ojha Sir, into the party on Monday. He joined the party in the presence of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.
There is speculation regarding Ojha’s candidacy in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Reports indicate that discussions about potential constituencies have already taken place, although specific details remain undisclosed. Soon after his induction, BJP leader Kapil Mishra claimed that Ojha is likely to get ticket from Patparganj assembly constituency while Delhi Congress president Devendra Yadav also claimed that most of the AAP leaders have decided to desert their sitting seats and look for safe Assemblies.
Notably, the AAP has released 11 candidates for the Delhi assembly polls, of them six are turncoats from the BJP and the Congress.
Welcoming Ojha to the AAP fold by presenting him the party scarf and cap, Kejriwal said, “The country’s renowned teacher Shri Awadh Ojha ji joined the Aam Aadmi Party today. His experience and perspective will provide a new direction to our education policy. Inspired by our policies and work on education, he has decided to join hands with the party. We heartily welcome him into our family. Together, we will work to fulfill Baba Saheb’s dreams.” Praising Ojha’s contribution in education, AAP leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia hailed him as an inspiration for millions of youth.
Kejriwal said Ojha not only gave education to youngsters but also prepared them for employment opportunities. He added that Awadh Ojha's entry into politics will benefit the education of the country, helping with the country's development at large.
Upon his joining, Ojha thanked the AAP leadership including Kejriwal and Sisodia for giving him the opportunity to work in the field of education by entering politics. He said that development of educational infrastructure is his topmost priority after entering politics.
Ojha faced criticism for remaining silent after the deaths of three UPSC aspirants during a flood incident at a coaching center earlier this year. Additionally, he stirred debate with remarks suggesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should dissolve the Constitution and establish a “Modi dynasty,” which drew significant backlash.
Ojha is among the most renowned teachers in the nation.
