The Madhya Pradesh electricity department is not working for providing any relief to the consumers. The whole system has been developed as the department is not responsible in any condition of deficiency in services.
Similar situation arose in the old city areas like Prince Colony in Bada Bagh sub-station area of old city on Wednesday. With the high velocity winds, storm and hails coupled with rains, there was power failure in the whole area since 3 pm. The local residents lodged several complaints soon after but no action was taken by the department. The electricity supply resumed after 9 pm only.
The residents called the local Assistant Engineer of the department Prashant Singh, who did not pick up the calls. But soon his mobile phone was switched off. He did not bother to switch on his mobile phone so that the power woes of the residents could be heard. Later, at around 8 pm, this correspondent contacted the Publicity officer of the department (Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board) Manoj Dwivedi, who claimed that there had been several faults, feeders must have been shut down, and soon the supply would resume.
He also claimed that the electricity supply also got resumed at his residence just sometime back. He asked the details of the locality so that he would forward to senior officials and soon it would be resolved.
Surprisingly, the department has only toll free numbers to lodge complaints for the consumers, but there is no way so that the customers can get the exact situation as when the power supply would be restored. The Pioneer tried to contact General Manager North Zahid Khan, but he was not available for the comment.
