Tension prevailed following the death of a high school teacher and his minor son in a road mishap inSonepur block of Subarnapur district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased identified as RajkumarMahakud (46) and his sonOmpreet (17) were residents of Baladi village under the Tarabha police station of the district.
“Deceased Rajkumar was returning home with his son after the end of latter’s tuition classes when a speeding Hyva truck ran over the father and son duo at Block Square. The truck driver fled abandoning the vehicle near the Police Reserve Line around fearing public anger,” said a police official.
Later, an irate mob set the Hyva truck on fire. Getting information, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Alleging negligence by traffic cops present at the spot, the locals staged a road blockade and vandalised the vehicle of Sonepur SDPOPratapTripathy.
The locals withdrew the road blockade after Balangir MPSangeetaKumari Singh Deo and other officials of district administration pacified them.
