The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Purola constituency, Durgeshwar Lal and his supporters staged a protest outside the official residence of the Forest minister Subodh Uniyal, alleging that development works in his constituency are being hampered by the Forest department. He further alleged that the minister is not doing the needful. Talking to The Pioneer, the MLA said that Forest department officials in his region of Uttarkashi district are hampering various development works. “The construction of roads and various development works are being stalled by departmental officials. Even PMGSY and Forest department works are being stalled by some officials, due to which the budget is getting lapsed. The block development committees of Purola, Mori and Naugaon have passed motions criticising the divisional forest officer but the minister is not paying heed. I have raised this issue with the minister but his response was not positive,” the MLA claimed. The minister on the other hand has stated that he has directed the department officials to take necessary action on the MLA’s complaint. Meanwhile, Lal said that he had also approached the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on this issue. He said that the CM has assured him that the government will take necessary action in the interests of the public.
