Swiftly acting on guidelines under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) of the central government, the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company has installed smart meters at over 11,000 government premises in its jurisdiction.
A total of 11,262 government office connections in 16 districts of the Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions will have smart meters installed. Out of these, 114 smart meters have already been installed at government offices in Bhopal, informed the power distributor.
The company said 1,749 smart meters will be installed in Bhopal city, 892 in the Narmadapuram circle (covering Itarsi, Narmadapuram, Pipariya, and Sohagpur divisions), and 527 in Ashta and Sehore.
Additionally, 1,051 smart meters will be installed in Gwalior city, 380 in Ashok Nagar circle, 885 in Betul, 535 in Bhind, 421 in rural Bhopal, 323 in Datia, 448 in Guna, 338 in rural Gwalior, 354 in Harda, 941 in Hoshangabad, 534 in Morena, 600 in Raisen, 649 in Rajgarh, 513 in Sehore, 312 in Shyopur, 680 in Shivpuri, and 556 in Vidisha government offices.The company is rapidly working to install smart meters at field offices, and these meters will soon be set up at all these locations.
Smart meters enable consumers to access shutdown notifications on their mobile phones; the Smart MPCZ mobile application is available for download on various platforms.
