Strap: Advice from Ninti Cardiac Care on International Men's Health Week
Men are more prone to heart disease than women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death, killing millions of men over the age of 40 each year. But the good news is that men can significantly reduce their risk of heart disease and live healthier lives by making some lifestyle changes. On the occasion of International Men's Health Week, Dr. Om Prakash, a senior cardiologist at Ninti Cardiac Care, a renowned hospital in the treatment of heart diseases, has given special advice to people on how to avoid heart diseases.
He said that to avoid heart-related diseases, take a healthy diet. Eat a rich diet like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein. Reduce salt intake. Exercise regularly. Exercise for about an hour a day. The most effective exercises are brisk walking, cycling or swimming. Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease. If you smoke, talk to your doctor about quitting. Also, maintain a healthy weight. If you are overweight or obese, losing a few kilograms can improve your heart health. It is easier for men to maintain a healthy weight than women. It is also important to get your blood pressure and sugar checked regularly.
