Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi on Monday inaugurated the spraying of anti-mosquito medicine through drone technology to prevent mosquito-borne diseases in waterlogging affected areas.
Under the campaign anti-mosquito medicine was sprayed in a wide area in Ward No. 33 Rani Khera under Narela zone, to help in preventing mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
On the occasion, Oberoi said, “For the first time in Delhi anti-mosquito medicine is being sprayed through drones. Due to record-breaking rains in Delhi this year many places had to face waterlogging and as a lack of drainage of rainwater in this area the risk of mosquito-borne diseases increases.”
She said that first of all we have to eliminate the waterlogging after the rain and after that mosquito-borne diseases will be prevented. “In the last two to three months awareness programs are being run at many levels to prevent mosquito-borne diseases such as children are being made aware in schools and meetings are also being held with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs),” Oberoi said.
The Mayor said that working in this direction for the first time in Delhi anti-mosquito medicine is being sprayed through drones. “The AAP government of MCD has fulfilled the promises made by Arvind Kejriwal,” she claimed.
She claimed that the corporation's sanitation workers are being paid their salaries in the first week of the month unlike earlier when they were not able to get permanent jobs till the age of retirement. “But since the AAP government came to power in MCD we have made 10,000 sanitation workers permanent,” the mayor asserted, adding that after the AAP government came to power in the corporation the sanitation system of Delhi has improved.
Oberoi also requested the citizens not to let water collect around them.
