In a push to keep the city's sanitation efforts free of injuries and hazards Mayor Malti Rai distributed 100 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits to sewage workers and 12 handcarts to sanitation staff at a ceremony on Saturday.
The distribution marks the beginning of a broader initiative under which the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will provide 338 PPE kits and 260 handcarts to enhance safety and efficiency in maintaining cleanliness across the city. Speaking at the event held at Shyamla Hills Waterworks Complex, Mayor Rai underscored the importance of equipping workers with necessary tools.
"These safety kits and handcarts will empower our sanitation workers to perform their duties more effectively, ensuring a cleaner and healthier Bhopal," she said. The initiative, attended by key functionaries including Additional Commissioner Devendra Singh Chauhan and Mayor-in-Council member Ravindra Yati, aims to address safety concerns and improve working conditions.
Distribution of remaining resources will be completed at the zonal level within two days, officials confirmed. This effort is part of the city's ongoing commitment to enhancing public health and sanitation infrastructure while safeguarding the welfare of frontline workers.
