Lieutenant general Sandeep Jain took over as the new commandant of of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Thursday. He replaced lieutenant general VK Mishra who retired on Wednesday. After taking over the reins of the prestigious academy, Jain paid his tribute at the war memorial in a solemn ceremony, recognising the supreme sacrifice of the brave soldiers for their nation.
Lieutenant general Jain was commissioned into 13 Mahar regiment of Indian Army June 1988. In a career spanning over more than 35 years, he has held important command appointments in varied sensitive operational sectors. He served as the DG CD, IHQ of MoD (Army) prior to assuming the command of 16 Corps.
Jain has attended various prestigious courses such as the Defence Services Staff College, Senior Command, Higher Command and has also had the distinction of attending National Defence College in Kenya. For his exemplary leadership and devotion to duty he was awarded with Sena Medal in 2022 and the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card in the year 2007.
