Lok Adalat an important platform for settlement of cases: Chief Justice

On the instructions of Justice SN Prasad, Executive Chairman of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, the inauguration program of National Lok Adalat was held on Saturday at Civil Court, Ranchi. Chief Justice, Jharkhand High Court-cum-Patron, Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi, Registrar General, Md. Shakir, Judicial Commissioner, Ranchi, Diwakar Pandey, Member Secretary, JHALSA, Kumari Ranjana Asthana, Deputy Commissioner, Ranchi, Rahul Kumar Sinha, City SP, Ranchi, Rajkumar Mehta, Assistant Registrar Protocol, Md. Fahim Kirmani, President, Ranchi District Bar Association, Ranchi, Shambhu Prasad Agarwal, Secretary, Sanjay Kumar Vidrohi, Judicial Officers, Judicial Employees, Mediators, Advocates, PLVs and others were present on the occasion.

 

Justice BR Sarangi said, “I started my judicial life with advocacy, after retirement I will return to advocacy. In Lok Adalat, plaintiffs and defendants get justice in less time. Only when people get justice on time, the judicial system will be considered to be used correctly. The role of lawyers in Lok Adalat is very important. The five fingers of the hands do different tasks, when all five fingers work together, the work is even better. If the bench and bar work together, the work will be better, people will get easy justice.”

 

Justice SN Prasad described Lok Adalat as a medium of quick and easy justice. During the program, all the judges distributed cheques among the beneficiaries of Lok Adalat. During the Lok Adalat, the Chief Justice gave gifts to two couples who were reunited after ending their family disputes and wished them a bright future.

 

Chief Justice BR Sarangi was present in today's Lok Adalat and inspected the benches that were made. He also distributed the compensation amount among the victims with his own hands. Judicial Commissioner Commissioner Diwakar Pandey was also present on this occasion. The compensation amount was also given to the victims by the Judicial Commissioner.

 

In today's Lok Adalat, compensation amount of Rs. 50,05,000 was distributed among 19 victims. For the successful organisation of the National Lok Adalat, 40 benches for judicial magistrates and 20 benches for executive magistrates were constituted.

 

In the National Lok Adalat organised today, a total of 86638 cases were settled and a settlement amount of Rs 5,30,87,75,272 crore was recovered in various cases, which includes settlement of pre-litigation and litigation cases.

 

Across the State a total of 10,13,428 cases were disposed of and an amount of Rs 11,16,53,93,781 was settled in the National Lok Adalat. In the Jharkhand High Court 54 cases were settled.
