Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced four new ministers of his cabinet – Om Prakash Rajbhar, Anil Kumar, Dara Singh Chauhan and Sunil Sharma – in the state assembly on Monday.
“These four cabinet ministers were part of this assembly. I introduce them as part of the cabinet in this House,” Yogi Adityanath said while speaking at the assembly.
In the first expansion of the Yogi cabinet since March 2022, four new ministers, including Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, Bharatiya Janata Party MLC Dara Singh Chauhan, Rashtriya Lok Dal MLA from Purkazi (Muzaffarnagar) Anil Kumar and BJP’s Sahibabad MLA Sunil Sharma were inducted into the Yogi cabinet on March 6 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
There are 57 ministers in the Yogi council of ministers.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana welcomed Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey who has been appointed as the leader of opposition of the House.
“I thank you for your gesture. The state is facing very serious issues currently; there is flood, law and order issues and corruption as well,” Pandey said.
In response, Speaker Satish Mahana said, “We will discuss all of these. You are the leader of the opposition and you have the right to give notices, you will do it and we will discuss all of them. The government is ready to answer.”
Leader of opposition and Samajwadi Party MLA Mata Prasad Pandey greeted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as the assembly session kicked off.
“I will try my best to raise the issues of the deprived people, who have been neglected by this government, in the Vidhan Sabha. We will raise all issues whether it is in the matter of electricity, law and order, or governance,” he said.
“It is a 5-day session. We have requested that the session be extended for another five days. Now the government has to decide how many days it will be. We will try to continue it further so that all the problems can be discussed,” Pandey said.
