Lok Adalat a medium of quick & easy justice: Justice SN Prasad

A National Lok Adalat was inaugurated online by Jharkhand High Court Justice cum Executive Chairman Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority Sujit Nrayan Prasad on Saturday in the State capital.

Jharkhand High Court Justice cum Executive Chairman, Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi Sujit Narayan and Member Secretary Jhalsa, Kumari Ranjana Asthana were present as the chief guest in the inaugural program. Justice Prasad then arrived as the Chief Guest in the National Lok Adalat at Civil Court, Ranchi and emphasised on settling as many cases as possible.

In this program, Judical Commissioner, Diwakar Pandey, Deputy Commissioner Ranchi, Manjunath Bhajantri, Chief Judge, Family Court, SS Fatmi, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, Chandan Kumar Sinha, Additional Chief Judge, Family Court, Sanjita Srivastava, along with other judicial officers, judicial officers of Civil Court, Ranchi and Zonal Head of SBI, Ranchi, Devesh Mittal along with other bank officials were present. Secretary of Ranchi District Bar Association Sanjay Kumar Vidrohi was also present along with other advocates.

Justice Prasad described Lok Adalat as a medium of quick and easy justice. He also inaugurated the free mega health check- up camp set up in Civil Court, Ranchi and SBI ATM in the premises. During the program, Justice Prasad also distributed cheques among the beneficiaries in Lok Adalat worth an amount of Rs 1,12,82,881.

In the session of Lok Adalat, compensation amount of Rs 1,56,77,881 was distributed among 19 victims. For the successful organisation of the National Lok Adalat, 40 benches for judicial magistrates and 20 benches for executive magistrates were constituted. In the National Lok Adalat, a total of 2,28,311 cases were executed and a settlement of Rs. 1,31,77,27,225.73 crore was made which includes execution of pre-litigation and litigation cases.

Across the State 16,70,146 cases were resolved and an amount of Rs 17,36,01,90,237 was settled. In the High Court of Jharkhand a total of 45 cases were disposed of.
