Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Kumar Singh, Dhar Police has achieved significant success in combating interstate liquor smuggling over the last two years (2023-2024). Through consistent and stringent action, illegal liquor worth approximately ?18 crore has been seized, delivering a major blow to the liquor mafia operating in the region.
Upon his posting in Dhar district, SP Manoj Kumar Singh launched a district-wide anti-liquor smuggling campaign aimed at curbing illegal transportation and promoting de-addiction. The campaign included public awareness initiatives, such as "Khatla Meetings," where youth were counseled on the dangers of substance abuse. All station in-charges were instructed to take firm action against gangs involved in the purchase, sale, and transportation of illegal liquor, leading to a significant crackdown across the district.
In 2023 and 2024, Dhar Police registered 4,929 excise cases, arresting 5,023 accused and seizing illegal liquor worth ?10.06 crore. Additionally, 63 two-wheelers and 96 four-wheelers, valued at approximately ?8 crore, used for transporting illegal liquor, were confiscated.
Liquor smugglers attempted to evade detection by using innovative methods, such as hiding liquor in milk containers, luxury bus trunks, and vehicles transporting straw and vegetables. However, due to the vigilance and strategic operations of Dhar Police, these efforts were thwarted, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of illicit liquor.
SP Manoj Kumar Singh emphasized the commitment of Dhar Police to eradicate illegal liquor operations in the district.
