LG gives nod to revision of allowances of judicial officers

Delhi Lt Governor (LG)Vinai Kumar Saxena has given his nod for implementation of the Supreme Court direction for revision of allowances for judicial officers in Delhi on the basis of the recommendations of the Second National Judicial Pay Commission (SNJPC).

Saxena approved the proposal of the Law Department in this regard and it has now been sent to the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, for its concurrence as per laid down rules, officials said here on Tuesday. 

The Supreme Court in its judgment dated 04.01.2024 in writ petition (C-643/2015) titled – All India Judges Association vs Union of India & Others --  had accepted the recommendations of the SNJPC with respect to the allowance of judicial officers/retired judicial officers of Delhi Judicial Services (DJS) and Delhi Higher Judicial Service (DHJS).

The apex court in its judgment had set the deadline of February 29, 2024 for all States and Union Territories for disbursements on account of arrears of salary, pension and allowances due and payable to judicial officers, retired judicial officers and family pensioners.
