Investing in the leadership development of nurses is not just a commitment to their professional growth; it's a pledge to elevate healthcare excellence, Dr. Sonu Goel, Program Director, and Professor at PGIMER Chandigarh said on Friday during the closing ceremony of‘ ’ Nursing Leadership & Management program being hosted under the banner of International Public Health Management Development Program, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health.
Dr. Kritika Upadhyay, the Program Coordinator, said that senior public health professionals from 7 countries, Tanzania, Maldives, Tajikistan, Seychelles, Botswana, Niger and Argentina not only learnt various soft and hard skills of management and leadership but also develop strategies for its application in their country for strengthening their healthcare system. Over 1200 people from 86 countries have built their capacity through similar programmes in last 8 years in this ‘first of kind’ program in India, she said.
"As delegates of the Nursing Leadership Management Program, let's replicate the power of gamification in our healthcare journey in our countries, " said Fazla, a senior nursing professional from Maldives while expressing her appreciation for the program and thanking Indian embassy in Maldives.
During the program, the experts taught health management and leadership skills through formal and informal training techniques like group thinking, inciting novice ideas, critical analysis, problem-solving exercises, case studies, and management games. Through ROTTO (Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization), the Neonatal Intensive care unit, National Institute of Nursing Education, the delegates were shown PGIMER's best practices in health care like nurse-led initiatives for preventing Diabetes Mellitus, stroke, head injuries, the establishment and functioning of HumanMilk Bank. Through the visit to Fortis hospital, Mohali and visit at the Government super-specialty hospital, sector 16, delegates witnessed the functioning of private and public healthcare in India.
