Kiratpur Sahib Police Station secures national recognition, ranked 8th by MHA

Thursday, 26 September 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

The Kiratpur Sahib Police Station in Punjab has achieved national acclaim by securing the 8th rank in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) Annual Ranking of Police Stations for 2023. It also claimed the top spot in Punjab, making it the best-performing police station in the region. The ranking, based on a set of predefined parameters, reflected the station’s commitment to law enforcement and public service.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav lauded the achievement, presenting certificates jointly signed by the Union Home Minister and Union Home Secretary to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rupnagar, Gulneet Singh Khurana. The certificates serve as recognition of the police station's efforts in efficient policing. DGP Yadav also extended congratulations to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kiratpur Sahib for this remarkable accomplishment.

The MHA’s evaluation process takes into account several factors, including the timely disposal of investigations, the resolution of public complaints, public interaction, record maintenance, and the conviction rate. The Kiratpur Sahib Police Station excelled across these key areas, reinforcing its standing as a model for effective, community-oriented policing.

Yadav emphasized that this achievement is not only a result of strategic policing methods but also reflected the strong relationship the station has built with the local community. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs for acknowledging the hard work of the Punjab Police. He also highlighted how this recognition would further motivate police personnel across the State to continue providing top-tier service and enhancing public safety.
