Khadi not only a cloth, it’s a symbol of our identity’, says Soren

Monday, 08 January 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Khadi is not just a dress. This is a symbol of our civilization, culture, tradition and being indigenous. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said these words while inaugurating the "National Khadi and Saras Mahotsav 2023-24" at Morhabadi Ground in Ranchi today. He said that we all are well aware that the name of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, is associated with Khadi, who gave a distinct identity to Khadi in the country and the world. In such a situation, we all need to join Khadi, so that we can further strengthen our traditional rural and indigenous system and take it forward.

The Chief Minister said that today is the era of materialism and technology. We are living with machines, but despite this we are moving forward taking our tradition, culture and civilization with us. Organizing Khadi and Saras Mahotsav is a part of this series, through which we are preserving our rural-desi traditional and ancestral systems and making today's generation aware of it.

The Chief Minister said that no matter how much time has progressed, the importance of rural and indigenous system still remains intact in our country and state. Village industry like Khadi is an example of this. We have to take such systems of villages forward at any cost and for this we will have to overcome the challenges related to it. This is not possible only at the government level, for this every person will have to take initiative.

The Chief Minister said that the government is making continuous efforts to promote rural and indigenous products. In our state, lakhs of didis are making various types of products by joining Sakhi Mandals. No chemicals of any kind are used in these products. These are indigenous products. The government is making the products of these didis available in the market through Palash brand, so that they can further strengthen their means of livelihood. For this, people will also have to connect with the products manufactured by them.

The Chief Minister said that our ancestors also needed food, clothing and house. We also have it and the coming generations will also have it. Without this our life cannot progress. In such a situation, the government is working to ensure this to every person.

On this occasion, Rural Development Minister Mr. Alamgir Alam, MP Mr. Sanjay Seth, Rajya Sabha MP Mrs. Mahua Maji, MLA Mr. CP Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mrs. Vandana Dadel, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Vinay Kumar Choubey, Secretary of Industries Department Mr. Jitendra Many officials including Kumar Singh and Rural Development Department Secretary Shri Chandrashekhar were present.
