Babulal Hembrom, who is young cadets of Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society(JSSPS) Sports Academy (Khelgoan) of the State Capital, which is joint initiative of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Government of Jharkhand, won Gold Medal under 49 weight category in the ongoing Youth Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship at Suva Fiji. Babulal also set a new record in this Championship.
Sports Academy project, Hotwar Ranchi came into being with funding in the ratio 50:50 and operated through JSSPS- Local Management Committee (LMC). LMC is manned by CCL officials from different departments, who look after the day-to-day operation and management of the Sports Academy. The main objective of opening Sports Academy, Khelgaon is to promote and encourage talented budding children of Jharkhand in the world of sports.
Hembram is a resident of Hesa Garha village of Ramgarh district and his father Shri Kaila Majhi is labourer and mother Dheni Devi is working as a cook in Anganwadi in the same district.
Hembram's journey of sports began after he was selected for Sports Academy, JSSPS in 2018. Babulal has undergone rigorous training under his Gurvinder Singh and won many medals in national and international events.
At present, there are a total of 286 trainees in JSSPS Sports Academy who are being trained by professional coaches in a total of 11 sports disciplines such as weightlifting, cycling, boxing, wrestling etc.
The higher management of CCL, members of JSSPS, senior official PN Roy, coaches of various sports disciplines and others congratulated and wished Babulal for his excellent performance.
