Himachal CM pays floral tribute to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by garlanding his statue at The Ridge, Shimla, on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. Speaking to media persons, he lauded Vajpayee’s immense contribution to the nation, describing him as an extraordinary statesman, an outstanding parliamentarian and a gifted poet. He said that Vajpayee had a deep affection for Himachal Pradesh and its people.
Cold weather conditions prevail in Punjab and Haryana
Chandigarh: Cold weather conditions persisted in Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday with Faridkot recording the lowest minimum temperature at 4.2 degrees Celsius, according to the meteorological department. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a low of 7.4 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius, Amritsar 5.7 degrees Celsius and Gurdaspur 5.5 degrees Celsius. Bathinda also experienced a cold night at 6.2 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 5.2 degrees Celsius. Hisar recorded a low of 6.8 degrees Celsius, Karnal and Sirsa 8 degrees Celsius, and Gurugram 9.3 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a low of 7.4 degrees Celsius.
Hry DGP honours police personnel on Good Governance Day
Panchkula: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on Wednesday honoured police personnel who performed commendable work in various fields at a felicitation programme in Panchkula on Good Governance Day. In the ceremony, the DGP honored 7 police personnel who received the DGP Uttam Seva Medal and a total of 25 police personnel who performed excellent work in Haryana 112. In his address, DGP said that it was a matter of pride for us that the response time of Haryana Police's ERV has now reduced to an average of 6.52 minutes, which means that the Haryana Police team reaches to help a person within almost 7 minutes of receiving the information.
Chandigarh MC opens 'Rupee Store' in Manimajra
Chandigarh: To provide affordable items to those in need while promoting the concept of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (RRR), the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has organized its 'One Rupee Store' at the Community Centre in Indira Colon, Manimajra. Speaking on the occasion, City Mayor Kuldeep Kumar said that the MCC's permanent RRR Center in Sector 17 has received an overwhelming response from citizens over the past year, enabling the establishment of this new Rupee Store. The aim of the Rupee Store is to provide affordable access to various items, such as books, electronics, clothing, crockery, kitchenware, toys, and bed sheets, all priced at just Rs. 1 per item, while promoting the RRR concept.
