Misrod police of Bhopal have arrested two bootleggers and seized illegal liquor worth Rs 1.57 lakh which was carried in a luxury car registered with UP RTO; police have started investigation regarding involvement of illegal transport of luxury vehicle by the bootleggers.
Acting on a tip off on Friday a white colour Suzuki Brezza car bearing vehicle registration number UP32HT2786 was coming towards Bhopal from Mandideep carrying liquor illegally . The information was verified.
Police staff at a check post in front of 11 Mill after receiving information spotted the same vehicle of the provided description and stopped car. It was checked only to find that liquor was kept beneath the person sitting beside the driver.
The person was identified as Pratap Agija, the person sitting next to the driver's seat. When opened, 12 bottles each of English liquor of Real Stag and Signature Company were found.
Further when the driver Chandan Jugani opened the rear seat of the car and the trunk of the car, a total of 12 boxes kept inside a polythene bag were found in the trunk in which total of 96 bottles of liquor and 96 cans of beer were found.
Licence for carrying the liquor was asked from the two which they failed to provide after which the liquor worth Rs 1. 57 lakh was duly seized and taken into police possession. The two were booked under section 34(2) of the Excise Act, a case was registered and taken up for investigation.
