As the Voting Day draws near on May 13th, 2024, in Chaibasa, efforts to boost voter participation have intensified in the district. In a creative endeavor to engage and inspire voters, a massive hot air balloon has been launched soaring to a height of 100 ft in the heart of Chaibasa. Adorned with a compelling message urging citizens to 'exercise their vote on 13th May 2024,' the balloon stands as a symbol of civic duty and democratic participation.
The brainchild of SDM Chaibasa, Animesh Ranjan, and Assistant Collector, Shruti Rajlakshmi, under the Systematic Voters, Education, and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, this innovative initiative aims to serve as a constant reminder for electors to fulfill their responsibility on polling day.
Kuldeep Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, West Singhbhum, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, recognizing its potential to mobilize and engage voters effectively. The towering presence of the hot air balloon is expected to captivate the attention of residents, igniting a sense of civic pride and urging active participation in the electoral process.
As the voting date of May 13th approaches in Chaibasa, located in the Naxal belt, election authorities are facing significant challenges in ensuring a smooth electoral process. With security concerns looming large, especially in the Naxal-affected areas, elaborate arrangements are being made to facilitate voting across the district where authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and security of voters and election personnel alike with meticulous planning and coordination proactively.
Additionally, for areas accessible by rail, arrangements are being made to transport personnel and equipment via train to 70 booths and plans are in place for heli dropping election personnel and materials at 130 booths situated in regions.
