The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently reproduced bail conditions in Hindi in a bail order to ensure that the person being released on bail in an abetment of suicide case understood the same.
While granting conditional bail to one Damodar Yadav in an abetment of suicide case, single-judge Justice Sanjeev S Kalgaonkar reproduced the bail conditions in Hindi for the benefit of the accused and the surety.
"The trial Court shall get these conditions reproduced on the personal bond by the accused and on surety bond by the surety concerned, if any of them is unable to write, the scribe shall certify that he had explained the conditions to the concerned accused or the surety," the Court directed.
Orders of High Courts are usually in English though some High Courts have recently started publishing translated copies of judgments/ orders in the vernacular language of the State.
In the present case, the accused had filed an application seeking bail in an abetment to suicide case. He had been in judicial custody since December 27, 2023.
