In collaboration with the State Disability Commissioner's Office, Disabled Sports and Jan Utthan Samiti organized a one-day office workshop for the empowerment of Divyang players and Divyangjans at Divyang Sahayata Kendra, Dhurva. Chief guest in the workshop, State Disability Commissioner Abhay Nandan Ambasht said that the state government is serious about the demands of the Divyangjans and is committed to help them. This year, financial assistance has been given to the winning Divyang players, in the coming years, phased efforts will be made for their betterment.
While inaugurating the workshop, special guest rehabilitation expert Rahul Mehta said that the awareness of Divyangjans towards sports has increased and their performance at the national and international level has improved. Making an annual calendar of various para sports of Divyangjans will be helpful in better management of the performance and events of the players.
The players unanimously demanded financial support, training and proper facilities for participation in international competitions. He also said that sports have made his identity and today he is being respected in his village and family, it would be better if he is connected with more government schemes.
In the workshop, all the national and international para players informed the players about the problems being faced and a discussion was held regarding sports for the disabled under the Act 2016. In the discussion, Jitendra Kumar of Sitesaver informed the Divyang players of Jharkhand about the sports policies issued by the government.
International Divyang player Mukesh Kanchan said that the Divyang player who is a national medal winner should be given the honorarium and should get reservation in direct appointment. He said that he will meet the Chief Minister and inform him about all these problems. Dashrath Kachhap, who was present on the occasion, said that all the Divyang organizations will have to work together. Aftab Alam from Divyang Cricket said that sports for the disabled should be organized in all the districts from the sports fund.
