Former MP demands action against IAS officer's foul language

Sunday, 04 August 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy  Kumar announced that he has written to Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Education Minister Baidyanath Ram, demanding departmental action against IAS officer Aditya Ranjan. Dr. Kumar accused Aditya Ranjan, the Director of the Jharkhand Education Project, of using indecent and shameful language towards teachers, an act he described as unfit for a civilized society.

Dr. Kumar began by expressing his condolences to the victims of the recent natural disaster in Wayanad and the families of the pilgrims who perished when their van collided with a high-tension electricity pole in Latehar, Jharkhand.

Highlighting a disturbing trend, Dr. Kumar remarked on the noticeable change in behavior and communication among IAS and IPS officers since 2014. He cited Aditya Ranjan's conduct as part of a broader issue, comparing it to the known behavior of Maharashtra officer Pooja Khedkar towards her subordinates.

Dr. Kumar recalled the concern expressed by RSS-affiliated 'Sankalp' in 2016 regarding the increasing number of doctors, engineers, and other professionals appearing for the civil service examination. He criticized the involvement of RSS and BJP in the administration of these prestigious exams, suggesting that it could undermine the dreams of families who aspire for their children to become IAS or IPS officers but lack the financial means for top-tier educational institutions.

He emphasized that IAS and IPS officers are trained to show patience and respect even in adverse situations, making the current behavior of some officers a serious concern. Dr. Kumar attributed this shift in conduct to the influence of BJP leaders, whose rhetoric has, according to him, degraded over time. He accused the central government of fostering an environment where caste and religious identities are weaponized, and minorities are openly targeted and threatened.
