Enhancing preparedness against fires and natural calamities, mock fire and earthquake drill exercise were conducted for employees at the Mantralaya, Satpuda, and Vindhyachal Bhawans in the state capital on Friday.
Hundreds of employees participated in the training to handle fire and earthquake emergencies. The Police Fire Station organised a mock drill in front of Ministry Building-2 for all departments. In March 2024, a fire in the ministry building required SDRF and NDRF teams for control. Similarly, in June 2023, a fire in Satpuda Bhavan involved NDRF, SDRF, and army assistance.
These incidents underscored the need for preparedness.During the training, Chief Security Officer Avinash Sharma supervised sessions where police and security staff demonstrated fire control techniques. Employees learned how to extinguish small fires and safely evacuate buildings during emergencies.
This training was conducted for ministry employees for the first time. Earlier, such mock drills were limited to security staff. The focus is now on equipping all employees with the necessary safety skills.
Mock drills also took place at Satpuda and Vindhyachal buildings. Attendance was mandatory. Fire personnel demonstrated safety measures, teaching employees techniques to escape safely and manage risks during fire emergencies.Police Fire Station in-charge RC Pandit said over 500 employees participated in the training. The sessions focused on emergency response strategies and accident prevention techniques, preparing employees for real-life crises. On Thursday, AIIMS also conducted a fire safety drill.
