On the occasion of Farmers Day, Lupin Human Welfare and Research Foundation organized a programme to commemorate the contribution of farmers in the socio-economic development of the nation. Farmers of NABARD assisted wadi project and Jogi Bhadak Farmer Producer Company Limited (FPCL) participated in the programme, held in Mewasamuniya village, in Nalchha block of Dhar district.
Smt. Sagarika Chaphekar, DDM, NABARD, Dhar presided over the event along with Sarpanch of three villages, Pappu Katare, President of the FPCL and Anoop Deshmukh and Pawan Devda from Lupin Foundation. The President of the FPCL shared the progress of the FPO and highlighted the need of farmers for collectivization and increasing the turnover of the FPO through different initiatives.
DDM Dhar expressed gratitude towards the farming community for cultivation of crops and horticultural produce and thereby helping the nation in achieving food security. The various initiatives of the government like Soil Health Card, formation and promotion of 10000 FPOs, Namo Drone Didi, Kisan Kavach, PMFBY were aimed at improving agricultural practices and raising the income of farmers. She elaborated on the importance of soil health, the need for soil testing and the role played by Horticulture in development of sustainable agriculture.
On the occasion, a kitchen garden kit was distributed to all the farmers. In NABARD wadi project, fertilisers and pesticide were distributed to around 50 new wadi participants. DDM Dhar also visited new wadi pit digging site and interacted with the wadi farmers.
