All eyes are now on the list of candidates to be finalised by their highest election body of the political parties. The wait is also for the pronouncements to the model code of conduct by the ECI. But it's the list that is robbing the peace and sleep of the probables in almost every political party regional or national.
There is more restivness in the BJP here in Palamu which has till Kamlesh Kumar Singh's joining the BJP, has 4 sitting MLAs.
With Kamlesh joining the BJP bandwagon from Ajit Pawar's group the BJP here does not see it any more strengthened politically rather his joining at this juncture is viewed as sidelining to the dedicated cadres and party workers said BJP workers in conversation with the Pioneer.
On an average there are 6 candidates serious and known for each 5 seats here in Palamu in the BJP camp. A highly enterprising woman is too serious about getting a BJP ticket. And there are veterans in the BJP who are equally out to smash her dream.
Some raced for it only some months ago. Some were for years. But everyone in the BJP is cross fingered. Even the sitting BJP MLAs have nightmares about being dropped.
Party sources said the BJP has been ruthless in dropping its big names if their winnability is doubtful. There are numerous examples of even ministers in the BJP ruled states dropped.
The Congress is in the mess here. It has no MLA in Palamu since 2014. However it has a long list of probables for the 2024 vidhan sabha election.
There is no less a ridiculous situation than when the JMM too wants to contest in Palamu. This regional party is strong in paper but in field it is microscopic politically. It gets energetic when Hemant Soren arrives here in Palamu.
Sources said banners and posters don't fill the space politically. It's programmes that matter most. Here the BJP has a tremendous record. It has its month long programmes. The BJP even makes the effigy burning an event. Other political parties just can't even get near to the art of BJP making a sedate episode a big event. PNS
