In a bid to address the persistent traffic woes in Mango, the Mango Municipal Corporation, under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, launched a comprehensive encroachment removal campaign on Monday. The initiative aims to clear illegally occupied areas along the central verge of the busy road stretch between Mango Chowk and Dimna Chowk.
Temporary structures, including those set up by vegetable vendors, handcart operators, and roadside shopkeepers, were dismantled during the drive. The campaign sought to free up the roadway for smoother vehicular movement. Encroachers were issued stern warnings, emphasizing that re-encroachment would lead to strict legal action.
Officials highlighted that encroachments not only cause traffic congestion but also pose significant safety risks to commuters. Shopkeepers were advised to set up stalls in designated open spaces rather than risking public safety by occupying roadside areas.
The campaign also targeted the unauthorized extensions of permanent shops. Several encroachments were identified and removed to ensure compliance with municipal guidelines.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Municipal Commissioner Aaqib Javed, who acted as a magistrate for the campaign. Adequate police personnel, including officers from the Quick Response Team (QRT), were deployed to maintain order and ensure the operation proceeded smoothly.
In addition to the encroachment removal, the district administration has deployed extra manpower to regulate traffic flow in the area. This ensures uninterrupted movement for commuters while minimizing disruptions during the campaign.
The district administration has committed to ongoing reviews of Mango’s traffic system, taking necessary steps to ensure that residents experience a hassle-free commute. The initiative reflects the administration’s determination to create a safer and more efficient urban environment for the people of Mango.
