The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday raided the locations of land dealer Kamlesh Kumar. The central probe agency team on Wednesday morning reached Chama village at Kanke. The ED team on June 21, had raided locations of land dealer Kamlesh Kumar and recovered more than Rs 1 crore in cash besides 100 live cartridges. According to ED sources, several other incriminating documents have also been recovered from his Astor Green apartment and other locations in Ranchi. However, Kamlesh is still absconding.
After the ED raid on June 21, ED's Assistant Director Devvrat Jha had written a letter to Jharkhand DGP Ajay Kumar Singh demanding action in the entire matter. A case was also registered against Kamlesh under Arms Act in Ranchi's Kanke police station. In this case, ED had summoned Kamlesh and called him for questioning on 28th June. But he did not appear before ED. After this, ED has sent summons to Kamlesh Kumar again. ED has sent summons and asked him to appear on 12th July.
Kamlesh is accused of creating fake documents to acquire land worth several crores and has acquired huge property during the past 10 years. The sources revealed that Kamlesh was operating under the protection of many senior officials in the administration and police as well.
Shekhar Kushwaha, who is associated with the syndicate that grabs land by making fake documents, had given information about Kamlesh Kumar grabbing land at many places in Birsa Agricultural University Kanke area with the help of fake land documents. Shekhar Kushwaha, was arrested earlier in the case on June 12.
The probe agency also found Kushwaha’s involvement in the purchase and sale of 4.83 acres of land of Gadi Mauja of Bargain with fake documents.
This is not the first time that Kamlesh has come under the radar of investigation agencies. In October 2021 also, he was accused of making attempts to forcibly acquire tribal land in Nagri and grabbing 20.59 acres of land belonging to Central Law University in Kanke and a land piece near the Jumaar river in Ranchi by forgery.
After the matter came to light, ED summoned Kamlesh Kumar for questioning at Ranchi Zonal Office. But Kamlesh absconded by not appearing on the ED summons. After which, at 12 noon on Friday, the ED team reached the flat located at Astro Green in Chandni Chowk, Kanke Road. But Kamlesh had left from there just before the ED reached there. ED searched this flat in the presence of independent witnesses. During this, ED found 100 live cartridges and one crore cash from there. On this occasion, the agency has also recovered many important pieces of evidence including documents related to the land. After the raid in Kanke Road, ED also raided Kamlesh's residence in Cheshire Home Road late in the evening.
