People should not face unnecessary problems in getting learner's license and driving license issued. Officers should meet the people every day and work towards resolving their problems as soon as possible, said Transport Minister Deepak Birua here on Saturday. The minister was giving instructions to the officials in a review meeting of the revenue collection and works of the Transport Department.
The minister said that it is mandatory to complete the annual target for revenue collection in four months. Officers should understand their responsibility. Appropriate action will be taken against the officer who is unable to achieve the target. During the review, the minister found a lot of shortage in tax, permit and registration of vehicles, for which instructions were given that all types of indecisive works in the last month should be executed as soon as possible. All the officers were directed to conduct physical inspection of vehicles. The minister directed to start check posts in other districts like the check post running in Chirkunda, Dhanbad.
Prevention of increasing road accidents is possible only by following traffic rules. SVD/ANPR/CCTV cameras were directed to be installed across the state to take action against those who do not follow the rules of road safety.
The minister directed intensive investigation campaigns to reduce road accidents caused by dense fog due to the arrival of the new year and increasing cold and to run awareness campaigns related to wearing helmets and seat belts.
The minister directed to physically inspect the vehicles running under the Gram Gaadi Yojana and check the facilities for the movement of passengers and bring forward good practices. He ordered action related to achieving 100 per cent target of vehicles in Gram Gaadi. The minister directed to dispose of the applications related to Hit and Run within the time limit directed by the Supreme Court.
Secretary Transport Department, Kripananda Jha, Joint Secretary, Sangeeta Lal, Joint Transport Commissioner, Praveen Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Manoj Kumar, Under Secretary, Irshad Alam, Under Secretary, Rajkishore Kumar, all District Transport Authority-cum-Secretary and all District Transport Officers were present in the meeting.
