The crime branch has arrested a drug peddler with 11 kg of Cannabis worth Rs 2.2 lakh, police have registered a case under NDPS Act.
Acting on a tip off regarding a suspicious man at a newly constructed building in Arif Nagar, New Berasia Bus Stand carrying drugs and which he is trying to sell. As soon as the information was received, the crime branch team reached the spot and detained the man.
When the plastic bag he was carrying was checked Cannabis was recovered from the bag. After this, the police took the person into custody. The man was identified as Suresh Gaur (55) resident of Sehore near Freeganj Galla Mandi police station Mandi.
A total of 11 kg 64 grams of ganja was recovered from the accused. The cost of the drug is about Rs 2. 2 lakh.
Meanwhile a home guard personnel posted at former minister Gopal Bhargava's bungalow was hit by an unknown vehicle on JK Road late Thursday night and died during treatment.
Ashwini Payasi (56) lived in Ayodhya Nagar. His uncle Rajbhan Payasi said that Ashwini was posted at the former minister's bungalow for seven years. He left the place on a bicycle after completing his duty at around 10 pm on Thursday night.
He was hit by an unknown vehicle on JK Road at 10.30 pm. Passersby took him to the hospital for treatment, where he died late at night. The family came to know about the accident on the information of Piplani police.
Ashwini Payasi had two sons. One is in college, while the other got a private job just a month ago. He has been very happy since then. He hoped that after retirement he would spend a wonderful life with his wife and children. Here, the police said that the footage of CCTV cameras installed near the incident spot is being scanned so that the accused driver can be identified.
