As Jharkhand gears up for its upcoming Assembly elections, Dr. Ajoy Kumar, a former Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur, former Indian Police Service officer, and the outgoing All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, has officially submitted his candidature for the Jamshedpur East (48) Assembly seat. The submission was made to East Singhbhum's Executive District President (City), Dharmendra Sonkar. The Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency is known to be one of the most contested and significant among the six assembly constituencies under the East Singhbhum district.
Addressing the media, Dharmendra Sonkar expressed the sentiment of anticipation and support within the community, stating, "The Jamshedpur East Assembly was waiting for a long time for Jamshedpur's universally accepted leader, the messiah of the poor and needy, Dr. Ajoy Kumar." On the same day, two other candidature applications were also submitted to the state office in Ranchi: one by Dharmendra Sonkar for Jamshedpur West and another by Surendra Kumar Jha alias Bablu Jha for Jamshedpur East.
The announcement of Dr. Ajoy Kumar's candidature has stirred enthusiasm across all sections of society in Jamshedpur East. Known for his distinct image, which sets him apart from traditional political figures, Dr. Kumar’s entry is seen as a game-changer.
