Concerned over people not informing about foreign nationals staying as tenants in their properties, the Delhi police has cautioned that details about the foreign guests has to be shared with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office(FRRO).
Issuing this advisory, the police said registration is necessary for the safety of the national capital adding non-compliance of the rules and regulations may invite the legal consequences.
A statement in this regard on Saturday said it has been observed that on several occasions, while renting their property to foreign nationals, the property wners/administrators/managers fail to share information of the stay of foreigner guests with the FRRO.
As per the provisions of Foreigners Act, read with Foreigners (Amendment) Order, 2016 and Foreigners (Amendment) Rules, 2016, it is mandatory for a Hotel Keeper/property owner/administrator/manager to inform FRRO about the foreign national staying in their premises, within 24 hours of arrival.
Accordingly, every person who is renting out property to a foreigner is required to maintain a register as per the prescribed format of Form ‘B’ and the same is to be produced for inspection on demand by any Registration Officer, Magistrate or a police officer not below the rank of a Head Constable.
Further, it is also obligatory on part of the property owner/administrator/manager to get their foreign national tenants verified for their antecedents, by submitting their details with their local police station.
