On PESA Day on Tuesday, demand arose for immediate implementation of PESA Law soon in the State. Gram Pradhans from different parts of the State participated in the program organized by Panchayati Raj Department. All of them said unanimously that PESA Law should be implemented in Jharkhand as soon as possible.
The speakers also said that due to non-implementation of PESA Law, villages are not able to develop. Despite the rules being prepared, it has not been implemented yet.
During the programme the Speakers said that with the implementation of PESA Law, panchayats will become self-reliant. The Secretary of the Gram Sabha will also be selected on the recommendation of the Gram Sabha. The village will have control over sand. Its looting will stop.
Along with this the Speakers also said that the Government's revenue will also increase. The traditional justice system will be effective. The burden on the court and police station will also be reduced.
PESA Law is applicable in 10 tribal-dominated states of the Country. This law was made in 1996. It has been 28 years since the law was made, but it has not been implemented in Jharkhand yet. Problems like unemployment and migration could be curbed with the implementation of this law. Apart from this resources of the state could also be saved.
Panchayati Raj Director Nisha Oraon, Mahadev Munda, Panchanan Soren, Vijay Kujur, representatives of Tana Bhagat Samaj as well as representatives from Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh also participated in the program. The program was chaired by Vivek Bhardwaj. PESA song was also launched on the occasion.
